A local family business with a long history
J.H. Todd & Son began trading over 100 years ago, at a time when coal was delivered in open sacks by horse and cart. Orders and deliveries were recorded by hand in books, and the business grew by serving local customers round after round, household after household.
As the years went on, the way coal was delivered changed. The business moved from horse and cart to bicycle deliveries, then to its first truck, and eventually to the modern delivery vehicles used today.
